Universities: Mur announces 12,000 places allocated for trainee teachers

The go-ahead has been given for 11,937 places on the single-cycle Master’s degree programme in Primary Education. The Minister for Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, has signed the decree setting out the allocation of these places amongst universities for the 2026/2027 academic year. Specifically, 11,732 places are allocated to applicants from European Union countries and non-EU citizens resident in Italia, whilst 205 are reserved for applicants from non-EU countries residing abroad.

The decree allocates places amongst universities on the basis of the available study programmes and provides for specific mechanisms for the reallocation of any unused places. The aim is to ensure that universities’ teaching capacity is fully utilised, allowing, where necessary, for any remaining places to be allocated to candidates who have been deemed eligible at other universities.
