Moussa Sangare, the 31-year-old arrested for the murder of Sharon Verzeni, will be interrogated in prison in Bergamo on Monday at 9am. Prosecutor Emanuele Marchisio and acting prosecutor Maria Cristina Rota today asked the gip to validate the detention of Sangare, who is accused of murder with the aggravating circumstance of premeditation and futile motives. The 31-year-old man, who was captured on camera as he rode his bicycle away from the scene of the murder, comes from an Ivory Coast family.

The words spoken by Sangare at the time of the arrest

.

"I had a sudden rapture. I cannot explain why it happened, I saw her and I killed her', were the words spoken by Sangare on the day of detention. The 31-year-old first made spontaneous statements then, during interrogation', in tears 'he made a full confession', explained Rota, assistant prosecutor in Bergamo, who today validated the arrest. Sangare said he was sorry for what he had done and, to the investigators, did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The victim, according to the reconstruction, was in the proverbial 'wrong place at the wrong time'.

Prosecution for premeditated voluntary manslaughter

.

The confessed perpetrator, who must answer for premeditated voluntary manslaughter since he had left the house with four knives, allegedly threatened two minors, two 15-16 year old boys, before he hurled himself at Sharon: "Let them come forward," the prosecutor demanded. Sangare's first statements revealed other details of the murder and the reaction of the woman who was later killed. "Why, why?", Sharon Verzeni allegedly said to her murderer as she was stabbed to death in via Castegnate in Terno d'Isola. Before hitting Verzeni with a stab wound to the chest, which was followed by three in the back, Sangare - again according to him - allegedly apologised to the 33-year-old woman beforehand, as if to warn her of the stab wounds he was about to inflict on her.

The reconstruction

.

Unemployed and with previous convictions for assaulting his mother and sister, Sangare did not know Sharon Verzeni. A murder, that of the 33-year-old, which for the investigators is currently 'without apparent motive'. The woman was returning home after a night walk through Terno d'Isola, when along Via Castegnate, the main street of the village, she was fatally stabbed by four stab wounds. The video surveillance cameras did not capture the moment of the murder, but did capture the image of a man on a bicycle speeding along via Castegnate at the time of the crime. There was no motive linked to sexual assault, robbery, the role of Scientology or drug issues, hypotheses initially aired.

The complaints of mother and sister

.

Moussa Sangare lived alone in Suisio after receiving a complaint of abuse from his mother and sister. The 31-year-old was a frequent visitor of the square in Terno d'Isola, but on the evening he killed the woman, after leaving the house with four knives, he had not been there. The two foreigners, who had gone to the Carabinieri to make other reports, then gave details of the arrested man once they had been shown the pictures. The images taken by the camera while he was riding his bicycle in via Castagnate, where the murder took place, were not enough to identify Sangare, but his identity was confirmed by other cameras.

The defence thesis: "Verisimilar psychiatric problem"

.

"It is very likely that there is a psychiatric problem, even if it is a premature discourse and will be a subject to be studied in depth with consultations and a possible request for an expert opinion, but it is nevertheless a very relevant aspect," said Giacomo Maj, lawyer of Moussa Sangare. The defence lawyer clarified that the 31-year-old, during the confession interrogation, continued to reiterate that it was "a gesture that even he cannot explain, something without meaning, without explanation or motivation".

The role of video surveillance

.

The mayor of Terno d'Isola, Gianluca Sala, wants to keep a 'low profile' while waiting for further information after the arrest. "Behind all this, let's not forget - he says - there is a crime, there is a family mourning a girl, there is a partner who no longer has a woman at his side, with a life project. It is clear,' he adds, 'that if the man on the bicycle really were to be the culprit, I can say that at least the video surveillance system and everything we have done to facilitate the investigation has helped in some way'.
