Once the Council of State ruling has been filed, it is still unclear how the querelle between RAI and the Municipality of Sanremo on the next editions of the Italian Song Festival will end, but one thing is certain: Sanremo continues to dominate the charts of the most listened to songs. This is demonstrated by the Top of the Music charts by Fimi GfK for the first half of 2025: Sanremo's repertoire and, in particular, Olly, winner of the 75th edition of the Festival with Balorda nostalgia, leads the way.
The song by the former Amici contestant is in fact first in the singles charts, on an all-Sanremo podium completed by Giorgia with La cura per me and Achille Lauro with Incoscienti giovani, a song based on Antonello Venditti's Notte prima degli esami. In terms of albums, however, Olly's Tutta vita, which cost Sony Music more than 264,000 euros, placed ahead of Santana Money Gang by Sfera Ebbasta & Shiva and the Puerto Rican phenomenon Bad Bunny with Debí tirar más fotos, the only foreign title in the top 25 of an increasingly diverse musical genre chart.
If we look at the Top Ten singles, we discover that the first six positions are all Sanremo songs (fourth Fedez with Battito, ahead of Cuoricini by Coma_Cose and Lucio Corsi with Volovo essere un duro). Even 12 proposals of the Festival if we broaden the discourse to the top twenty positions (Rose Villain with Fuorilegge is 12th, Bresh with La tana del granchio 15th, The Kolors with Tu con chi fai l'amore 16th, Gaia with Chiamo io chiamitu 18th, Shablo with La mia parola 19th and Serena Brancale with Anema e core 20th). Sanremo, then, has been a driving force for the entire repertoire of the winner Olly who, in the Fimi GfK singles chart, has six songs in the top 50 positions, also considering feats.
There is almost everything urban in the Top 10 albums, completed by the fourth place of Dio lo sa Atto II by Geolier, ahead of It's over peace by Marracash, Tropic of Capricorn by Gué, Locura by Lazza, the eighth place of La Bellavita by Artie 5ive and the tenth place of All the Devil's Names by Kid Yugi. The exception is the Nuclear Tactical Penguins, ninth with Hello World. It is precisely the band from Bergamo that confirms itself as a case study: they have four albums (in addition to Hello World also Fake News 46th, Out of the Hype 56th, Ahia! 70th) and four singles (Island 12th, Empty Bottles 38th, Amaro 74th, Romantic but You Die 77th) in the Fimi GfK Top of the Music. If one adds these performances to those of the recently concluded stadium tour, with nine dates, eight of which sold out for 420,000 tickets sold, it is not difficult to understand why we are talking about the most representative band on the Italian music scene.
Entirely urban dominated the physical Vinyl, CD and Musicassette chart, with Santana Money Gang by Sfera Ebbasta & Shiva in first place, Ranch by Salmo in second place and It's over peace by Marracash in third. This is a chart that for the first time is more oriented towards contemporary repertoire, leaving only residual space for legacy catalogue titles (Pink Floyd in eighth place with Live at Pompeii), the prerogative of the now defunct Vinyls chart active until a couple of years ago.
