Musk seeks sole custody of son after mother's pro-trans turn
Elon Musk has announced that he will seek the exclusive custody of his one-year-old son with conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair, after the woman expressed her support for the transgender community.
"I will be filing for full custody today, given his statements implying the possibility that he may put a one-year-old on a transition path," Musk wrote on X, responding to a follower's comment.
It is unclear whether St. Clair ever indicated that he wanted to allow his son to transition, but the Tesla, X and SpaceX patron's accusation comes after St. Clair publicly distanced himself from previous anti-transgender stances, apologised for past comments and expressed support for the trans community.
"I feel immense guilt for my role," she wrote in response to a user on X who accused her of "transphobia" in the past. "And I feel even more guilt," she added, "because the things I said may have caused further pain to my son's sister. I really don't know how to make up for a lot of these statements, but I have tried very hard, privately, to learn from and support people in the transgender community that I have hurt."
One of Musk's other daughters, Vivian, came out as transgender in 2022.
