From Milan to Paris, from Rome to Constantinople, from salons to Risorgimento battles, Princess Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso was a protagonist of her time. She made history, but history has forgotten her.
24Ore Podcast and Radio 24 present My name is Cristina. Vita ribelle della principessa del Risorgimento, a podcast written and narrated by Rossana de Michele and featuring Ambra Angiolini who interprets and gives voice to Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso. The podcast will be presented in Milan, at Palazzo Reale on 18 March at 6 pm, during an event organised by Radio 24 - 24Ore Podcast in collaboration with the City of Milan, Palazzo Moriggia | Museo del Risorgimento and 24 ORE Cultura. The event is part of the calendar of initiatives for the 178th anniversary of the Five Days of Milan and in the public programme of the exhibition I Macchiaioli at Palazzo Reale. Speakers: Tommaso Sacchi, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Milan; Alessandra Scaglioni, head of 24 ORE Podcast coordination; Francesca Tasso, director of the Castle Museums, Archaeological Museums and the Museum of the Risorgimento; Rossana de Michele, author and narrator; with the participation of Ambra Angiolini.
In six episodes, the series tells a true story that reads like an adventure novel: the story of a woman who was a princess and revolutionary, queen of the Parisian salons and a wanted fugitive from the Austrian police, a mother out of wedlock, a journalist, a social reformer and an advocate of gender equality. In Milan during the Five Days she led 200 men; in Rome, Goffredo Mameli died in her arms; in Paris she hosted Liszt and Bellini in her salon. Manzoni criticised her for opening schools for peasants' children; Napoleon III made her promises that were never kept.
Cristina di Belgiojoso was one of the most extraordinary figures of her time, world-famous during her lifetime and then gone when the names of those who lived in her time - all men - entered the history books. Her life is reconstructed through careful research among the many historical sources and brought to life through the words she herself left us in many letters, diaries and articles that testify to her commitment and courage as well as her feelings, her emotions and her hope, that of leaving the women of the future a better life.
With Rossana di Michele's narration and Ambra Angiolini's captivating performance, speakers include historian Paolo Mieli, journalist Lia Celi, historian Mariachiara Fugazza, actress Anna Bonaiuti - who played Cristina in the theatre - and Sandro Fortunati, one of the leading experts on the princess and scientific advisor to the podcast.
