A history spanning more than half a century. It began in the world of transport and then landed in hospitality. On one of the islands of the Cyclades most popular with families, who take refuge in the north, and with the nightlife that rages on the beaches and clubs in July and August.
Until the 1970s, Mykonos remained hidden from most. Known to archaeologists, who since the 19th century have discovered and unearthed the splendour of nearby Delos, and to a few Athenian families.
It was in the 1970s that the founder of the Myconian Collection group, George Daktylides returned from military service and convinced his brother to invest in a few buses and other businesses on the island, but it was from the end of that decade that he started the hospitality project with the opening of two hotels.
Today, the Myconian Collection boasts luxury facilities on the famous Cycladic island, starting with the first opening in 1979 of Kohili, a B&B overlooking the famous mills of the main town.
George's four sons continue the tradition today, ready when the time comes to hand over the baton to their children and grandchildren.
