Proclaimed by a number of autonomous trade unions, a national general strike is underway that will affect the personnel of the Italian FS Group. The strike is general and therefore concerns all categories, including school and health, but the greatest difficulties should be in transport

The group itself announced this in a note, specifying thatthe stoppage is scheduled until 21.00 on Friday 20 June. At 9.30 a.m. there were cancellations and heavy delays at Rome's Termini station due to the strike.

Trains may be subject to cancellations or changes due to a national strike by staff of the FS Group, Trenitalia and Trenitalia Tper. The strike does not include the staff of the Sardinia circulation room of Rfi and the mobile staff of the Piedmont and Aosta Valley of Trenitalia.

A strike may result in changes to the service, even before it begins and after it ends. More information on guaranteed services in the event of a strike is available on the digital channels of the railway companies or from customer service staff and ticket offices.

Liguria: general strike of all categories on Friday

In anticipation of possible inconveniences, notice is hereby given that in Liguria the trade unions Sgb, Usb, Cub, Sicobas, have proclaimed a general strike of all public and private categories for the entire day of Friday 20 June 2025.

The trade unions Sbm multicategorical basic union, Usb Pi, Fisi, Flai adhere to the above proclamation.

For regional transport, the essential services provided in the event of a strike are guaranteed on weekdays from 6:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to o21:00. The lists of guaranteed services can be consulted on the official Trenitalia timetable and at this link:

Trade union agitation may result in changes to the service even before its commencement and after its conclusion.

When to ask for reimbursement

Passengers who intend to forego their journey may request reimbursement from the declaration of the strike:
- until the departure time of the booked train, for Intercity and Frecce trains;
- until midnight of the day before the strike itself, for Regional trains;

alternatively they can reschedule the trip, under similar transport conditions, as soon as possible, subject to availability of seats.

Air traffic among other sectors involved

In the past few days Ita announced that it had to cancel 34 domestic and international flights due to the strike, of which 32 were scheduled on the day of the strike (the other two cancelled on 19 and 21 June).

Also scheduled for today is the eight-hour strike called by Fiom Fim and Uilm for the renewal of the metalworkers' contract with demonstrations at regional level.

To the inconveniences of the strike of the autonomous workers could be added those for the traffic in the cities where the processions are planned. The general secretaries of the metalworking federations, Michele De Palma, Ferdinando Uliano and Rocco Paolombella will speak in Naples, Bologna and Mestre respectively.
