Silvio Baldini will lead Italia in friendly tests against Luxembourg and Greece before the Nations League
The Azzurri are preparing for two friendly matches with Baldini on the bench, ahead of their debut in the fifth edition of the Uefa Nations League in September.
The Italian national football team will be back on the pitch in just under two months' time, Wednesday 3 June (8.45pm) at the Stade de Luxembourg will face Luxembourg and Sunday 7 June (8.45pm) will be on stage at the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion, on the island of Crete, for another friendly test against Greece.
Leading the Azzurri at the two matches will be National Under-21 coach Silvio Baldini, who will be assisted by his staff.
The Azzurri have won eight of the nine matches played against Luxembourg: the only draw (1-1, goals by Marchisio and Chanot) in the friendly match played on 4 June 2014 in Perugia, the last test before the national team left for the Brazilian World Cup.
There are 11 previous meetings with Greece (first time in Crete), with a balance of seven victories for the Azzurri, three draws and only one defeat.
The most recent confrontation between the two national teams dates back to 12 October 2019, when at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, in front of 56,000 spectators, Italia won 2-0 with goals from Jorginho and Bernardeschi, winning the arithmetic qualification to the European Championship with three days to spare.
