Nato, Rutte: 'Trump is disappointed in allies'. US president: 'They were not there when we needed them'
US president expresses dissatisfaction with European support in Iranian conflict, while NATO secretary defends allies' commitment
Secretary General of the Nato Mark Rutte met with US President Donald Trump after weeks of tension between the US administration and the Atlantic alliance. Since the beginning of the conflict with Iran, Trump has attacked the European allies several times, accusing them of not helping the US enough. A position also confirmed in the meeting with Rutte at the White House.

During the meeting, the US president again expressed his disappointment with the western partners of the US. "He is clearly disappointed with many NATO allies," Rutte told CNN at the end of the meeting, adding, "I pointed out how many European countries have helped." The Atlantic pact number one also stated: 'It was a frank and open conversation. It was a meeting of friends. I admire his leadership'. After the meeting, Trump published a post on his Truth social network in which he once again harshly criticised the alliance.
