The South Sardinia shipbuilding hub is born. In fact, the Port Authority of the Sea of Sardinia has signed the decree awarding the first six lots of the eleven available in Cagliari's canal port. A total of five operators submitted their bids to the tender, which was published by the Adsp on 18 September 2024. And, among them, Luna Rossa, i.e. the Prada Pirelli team.
"The process of assigning the lots for the shipbuilding district," explains Massimo Deiana, president of the Adsp, "can be considered a historic success, which opens the way to a new season of entrepreneurial and economic growth for the south of the island and beyond. The first six lots awarded will house some of the sector's excellences, which will be able to count on adequate and modern spaces and infrastructure. Luna Rossa's nascent technological and industrial base certainly deserves special attention, as it officially strengthens the link, in a double thread, with Cagliari and Sardinia'.
Two docks for the America's Cup challenger
.The area will also be home to Luna Rossa challenge, which has been awarded a lot (for an annual fee of approximately 71,000 euro) with an uncovered surface area of 27,000 square metres, two docks measuring 203 and 210 metres in length, and related water surfaces of 6,450 and 7,490 square metres. The company will build a shipyard dedicated to the construction and maintenance of racing boats, in which industrial processing, advanced design, research and development sectors will also take place, including boat testing for the re-launch of the America's Cup challenge.
Gordon's light structures (in association with Cantieri di Olbia) has, instead, obtained two lots within the compendium: the first (for an annual fee of approximately Euro 96 thousand), consisting of an uncovered area of about 50 thousand square metres, a 176-metre long quay and about 5.800 square metres of water surface, for the construction and repair of mega-yachts of up to 100 metres in length; the second (for an annual fee of just over EUR 21,000), with an uncovered surface area of 12,500 square metres, and a quay on the inner channel of the outer harbour, for services for boats of up to 25 metres in length.
Spaces also for boats up to 15 metres
.The temporary association of companies made up of the Sa Perdixedda shipyard and Sca.Fe was awarded two lots, both of them back-to-back: one (with an annual fee of EUR 12,400) of 7,000 square metres, for the establishment of a shipyard for garaging, craftsmen's workshops and other complementary activities dedicated to boats up to 15 metres, and one (with a fee of just over EUR 6,000) of 3,500 square metres, for identical commercial operating purposes.
