Nestlé, turnover -1.9%, will cut 16,000 jobs
This was announced by the new CEO on the occasion of the publication of the turnover for the first nine months
Nestlé plans to cut 16,000 jobs worldwide over the next two years, the new CEO announced on the occasion of the publication of the first nine months' turnover, which fell by 1.9% to CHF 65.9 billion (EUR 71 billion).
"The world is changing and Nestlé has to adapt more quickly," which will involve "making difficult, but necessary decisions to reduce the workforce," Philipp Navratil, who took over as head of the food group at the beginning of September, said in a statement.
In particular, the workforce reduction programme includes the shedding of 12,000 jobs in various sectors and parts of the world, 'resulting in annual savings of CHF 1 billion by the end of 2027', i.e. double the amount planned so far, the Swiss group's statement said.
In addition, 4,000 jobs will be added as part of already ongoing initiatives to increase productivity in production and the supply chain.
