Intesa: 9-month profit exceeds expectations at 8.2 billion (+8.1 per cent), 2026 guidance raised
Distributions totalling 7.8 billion, with 6.1 billion in dividends
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Intesa Sanpaolo closed the first nine months of 2026 with a net profit of 8.2 billion, up 8.1 per cent on the previous year. In the third quarter alone, profit stood at 2.65 billion (+11.5%), compared with the 2.5 billion forecast by the market consensus. Turning to the nine-month period, operating income rose by 5% to 21.5 billion, with net interest income at 11.4 billion (+2.3%) and net fee and commission income at 7.7 billion (+5.2%). Operating costs fell by 1.3% to 7.9 billion, bringing the cost-to-income ratio down to 36.7%. As for capital strength, the CET 1 ratio stands at 13.1 per cent after deducting the 7.8 billion in distributions accrued over the nine-month period from capital, of which 6.1 billion were dividends. The ratio would rise to 13.8% if the absorption of DTAs were taken into account. Thanks to the nine-month results, Intesa has upgraded its guidance for the full year 2026: net profit is now expected to be ‘well over’ 10 billion, compared with the previous guidance of a result ‘over’ 10 billion.
