Netflix, agreement with Nuovo Imaie for fair compensation of actors and voice actors

The agreement between Netflix and Nuovo Imaie has been renewed for the definition of the fair compensation due to actors and voice actors represented by the collecting that protects over one million music and audiovisual artists, performers and performers. The agreement," the collecting body announced, "revises in an improved form the terms of the compensation owed by Netflix to Nuovo Imaie artists for cinematographic works offered in Italy in the years 2023 and 2024. 'Netflix has always provided us with the reporting and economic data necessary for the correct identification of the works used and for the determination of the amounts due to the artists protected by Nuovo Imaie on the basis of the nationality of the works and the intensity of their use,' said president Andrea Micciché, who expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the negotiations.

"This important result", continued Miccichè, "is the result of a negotiation based on criteria of transparency, analyticity and on the strengthening of the positive collaboration started years ago with Netflix. One of our priorities has always been, and still is, to promote a strategy aimed at enhancing cooperation while respecting reciprocal roles and being aware of the increasingly central value that streaming services are assuming in the audiovisual market. This is the consolidation of a path that has already started and that we intend to continue to grow in order to give more and more value to Artists' rights'.

Also for Lucia Carta, senior director business and legal affairs for Italy at Netflix, 'fair compensation for performers is of fundamental importance to Netflix. For this reason, we are very happy to renew the agreement with Nuovo Imaie, which allows us to pay the vast majority of Italian and foreign performers the supplementary remuneration due for the exploitation of their works on our service in Italy. The payment of the equitable remuneration to the performers represented by Nuovo Imaie was determined as part of an analytical and transparent mutual information exchange process'.
