New call for over 1.3 million to support Sicilian beekeeping

Training, exchanges of good practices, pest and disease control, prevention of climatic adversities, repopulation of the bee population, purchase of swarms. These are some of the objectives of the call for proposals 'Actions to improve the production and marketing of honey' for the 2025-2026 beekeeping campaign, published by the Sicilian Region's Agriculture Department. This is European (Feaga fund) and state funding of over 1.3 million euros, which the EU and the Ministry of Agriculture allocate annually to the Regions to support investments in honey production and marketing and to increase production levels.
In detail, Action A of the call, aimed at beekeepers and beekeeping organisations, covers technical assistance, advice, training, information and exchange of best practices, including through networking.
Action B, on the other hand, relates to investment in tangible and intangible fixed assets and other more specific initiatives such as the fight against hive aggressors and diseases, in particular varroasis; the prevention of damage caused by adverse weather conditions and promotion of the development and use of management practices adapted to changing climatic conditions repopulation of the bee population in the Union, including beekeeping and rationalisation of transhumance; purchase of equipment and management systems (hardware and software) to improve the quality and value of hive products intended for trade.
Finally, Action F focuses on promotion, communication and marketing, and on market activities, with a particular focus on raising consumer awareness of the quality of beekeeping products. Companies interested in accessing funding can consult the call for proposals on the Regione Siciliana website.
