Fewer charging stations, but more electric cars. In the folds of the revision of the NRP a new plan for the scrapping of polluting cars makes its way, however, to be financed with approximately EUR 597 million 'saved' due to the failure to meet the targets for electric charging infrastructures (M2C2I4.3.1).
The bonuses will be concentrated in the most polluted urban areas and will incentivise the farewell of private vehicles with internal combustion engines in exchange for zero-emission vehicles, with incentives for low Isee families (the specific threshold is to be defined).
The intervention will also include micro-businesses for the purchase of commercial vehicles (category N1 and N2), also with zero emissions. According to government estimates, the funds released will help replace more than 39,000 cars.
Investing in the national ecological strategy
In the executive's view, policies such as this 'confirm Italy's dynamic approach to the management of the Plan' and result in 'a real strengthening of the national ecological strategy, investing where the positive impact is guaranteed and rapid'.
The same philosophy inspires the planned corrections on other strands of the NRP, the implementation of which has proved less vibrant than the initial ambitions.
