In Paris, the Citroën brand unveiled the new generation of the C5 Aircross, the second, which is distinguished by its rugged, boxy styling and spacious, high-tech interior. Orders will open in June and first deliveries are expected after the summer. The price list is not yet available.

Sturdy, square style

The new-generation Citroën C5 Aircross is based on the STLA-Medium platform and benefits from the flexibility in terms of size and power that it offers. Specifically, the wheelbase of the C5 Aircross is lengthened by 60 mm to improve the space available to passengers. In addition, it can also adopt wheels up to 20 inches housed in wide wheel arches that are very reminiscent of those of the Peugeot 3008.

Finally, the STLA-Medium platform offers customers a range of driving aids and state-of-the-art connectivity and infotainment interfaces to make journeys even more enjoyable and stress-free.

The dimensions of the SUV have increased: 4,652 mm long (+150 mm) and 1,902 mm wide. The wheelbase has been lengthened to 2,784 mm, benefiting passengers in the second row and the boot has a capacity of 651 litres.

The sloping nose of the bonnet expresses dynamism while the roofline slants slightly after the second row to optimise aerodynamics and preserve cabin volume, clearly underlining the SUV's family vocation. At the rear, on the other hand, a sophisticated horizontal band in glossy black is shown, highlighting a distinctly vertical tailgate designed to increase boot capacity.

Spacious, high-tech interior

The interior is the area most striking for its renovation: the space is spacious and bright, favouring essentiality.

Completely new is the dashboard, dominated by the large 14.7-inch upright screen, which is flanked by the 10-inch digital dashboard and, depending on the trim, the colour head-up display.

Also outstanding are the new Citroën Advanced Comfort seats, which are designed to increase on-board comfort. The front ones can be electrically adjusted to up to 10 positions, with a heating, ventilation and massage function offering five different programmes.

Onboard technology and connectivity

The new Citroën C5 Aircross features the French brand's latest generation of infotainment systems, including connected 3D navigation and a comprehensive audio system. Up to eight drivers can create a personalised profile that stores favourite radio stations, customised destinations and a personal configuration for the central touch screen.

Smartphone connection is also wireless, both for Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Finally, also available is the new artificial intelligence tool Chat GPT, which makes speech recognition more natural.

Motor range: three solutions available

The engine range includes a 48 Volt Hybrid solution, a plug-in hybrid and two 100% electric variants.

The 48-volt hybrid combines a 136 hp (100 kW) 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine with an electric motor that supports the combustion engine and achieves a combined output of 145 hp.

The version equipped with plug-in hybrid technology, on the other hand, combines a 150 hp (110 kW) 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 125 hp (92 kW) electric motor integrated in the new 7-speed eDCS dual-clutch automatic transmission, powered by a 21 kWh battery placed under the floor pan in the middle of the vehicle, for a combined power output of 195 hp (143 kW) and a range in 100 per cent electric mode of around 86 km.

Finally, there are two new 100% on tap versions: the first with a 210 hp (157 kW) engine combined with a 73 kWh battery offering a range of 520 km. The second has a 230 hp (170 kW) motor and a claimed range of 680 km thanks to its 97 kWh battery. Both electric solutions can be recharged with 160 kW direct current.
