Contract signed for Education and Research managers. New pay scales for ATA staff

The National Collective Labour Agreement for the Education and Research Sector for the three-year period 2022–2024 has been definitively signed at ARAN. The agreement covers a total of around 7,900 senior managers: 7,550 school heads and 360 senior managers at universities and research bodies.

For school heads, partly thanks to the additional resources specifically allocated under the 2022 Budget Act, the pay review provides for an average gross pay rise of 500 euros per month for thirteen monthly payments, equivalent to an increase of 8.48 per cent. For heads of universities and research bodies, the average increase is €503 gross per month for thirteen months, corresponding to a 6 per cent rise. The agreement also recognises arrears accrued from 1 January 2024. The average amount is approximately €5,800 for school heads and approximately €6,000 for managers at universities and research bodies. This has been announced by ARAN.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Merit is initiating all the procedures for the allocation of new salary grades aimed at the professional development of ATA staff and for the simultaneous payment of arrears. The procedures concern 46,297 new posts for administrative, technical and auxiliary school staff, in addition to the 51,941 pay grades already in place, with an increase – depending on professional profiles – ranging from €700 to €2,000 per year.

Thanks to the Ministry’s efforts, arrears for the new posts – amounting to between 1,450 and 4,150 euros – will also be settled in a single payment. The total funds, amounting to over 134.3 million, will be disbursed after the summer and, in any case, as soon as all the necessary preparatory procedures have been completed.
“Our ongoing commitment to the development of all school staff and to improving pay and welfare conditions continues. I would like to highlight the extraordinary achievement of signing three collective agreements for the education sector, which, in particular, have resulted in total monthly pay rises of €304 for ATA staff,” said Giuseppe Valditara, Minister for Education and Merit.
