New Smart Concept #2, debut at the Beijing Motor Show
Electric two-seater compact unveiled in China, set to arrive at the Paris Motor Show in October in its final version
The two-seater Smart is ready to hit the road again. The Smart Concept #2, a prototype anticipating the successor to the Fortwo, was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show. Expected to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026 in its final form, the #2 will be fully electric and will join the Smart #1, #3 and #5 already on the market. At the Global Brand Event 2026 in Beijing, the brand resulting from the collaboration between Geely and Mercedes presented the smart #6 EHD, its first long-range hybrid-powered fastback saloon destined, for now, for the Chinese market only.
Smart #2 electric
Featuring styling reminiscent of the much-missed Fortwo, the Smart #2 will be built on the new proprietary Electric Compact Architecture (Eca) platform. Guided by the brand's 'Love, Pure, Unexpected' design philosophy, the Concept #2 was developed entirely by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team. Smart anticipates a range of up to around 300 kilometres and DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality will be available.
