Volkswagen is preparing to unveil the second generation of the T-Roc, the compact SUV based on the MQB platform, at the Munich Motor Show (9-14 September).

The German manufacturer has already released a first teaser of the new T-Roc, showing a silhouette that is still partly camouflaged. The lines remain faithful to the current model: sloping rear window with a coupe-like touch, sculpted C-pillar and compact proportions. However, certain details such as a slightly elongated bonnet and bumpers hint at an increase in overall dimensions.

The most awaited novelty, however, concerns the engines. In addition to the classic petrol versions, the new T-Roc could introduce plug-in hybrid and electrified variants, thanks to an evolution of the MQB platform shared with the Golf, Tiguan and Passat.

The interior will undergo a major technological upgrade, with larger displays and advanced integration of driver assistance systems. On the mechanical front, the range should evolve to include plug-in hybrid variants and, probably, 48V mild hybrids. It remains to be clarified whether the diesel engine will be retained or replaced by non-rechargeable hybrid systems, similar to those proposed by Toyota and Renault.
