Elon Musk met Monday in New York with the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations in what two Iranian officials described as a discussion on how to decrease tensions between Tehran and the United States. The New York Times reported this, reporting that the meeting between Musk - recently head of the "Doge" department, the structure Trump wanted to redesign the US bureaucracy - and Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani lasted more than an hour and was held at a secret location.
The New York Times' Iranian sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss politics publicly, described the meeting as 'positive' and a harbinger of 'good news'.
Asked whether there had been such a meeting, Steven Cheung, Donald Trump's communications director, said: 'We do not comment on reports of private meetings, whether they have occurred or not.
Elon Musk did not respond to a request for comment made by reporters from the American newspaper.
