Niscemi, 150 million for land security and compensation coming soon
The Prime Minister, during her visit to the Sicilian municipality hit by a landslide in January, said that two measures worth 75 million will be financed in the next Cdm
Not only the renewal of the excise cut in the Council of Ministers on Friday afternoon. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during her visit to Niscemi, announced two measures worth 75 million (so 150 in total) in favour of the Sicilian municipality, which was hit by a landslide in January during the climatic emergency caused by Cyclone Harry.
150 million between security and compensation
"We are ready to put on the ground the resources" allocated by the February decree-law, Meloni said. "We have another Council of Ministers meeting (Friday 22 May, ed.) and we would like to dismiss two programmes each of 75 million, the first for making the territory safe, the second for compensation to homeowners" in the area affected by the Niscemi landslide.
Meloni's third visit
This was the premier's third visit, following those of 28 January and 16 February. Meloni was accompanied by the head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabio Ciciliano. Meloni attended an operational meeting in the town hall with local authorities and technicians involved in managing the emergency.
During the meeting, according to a clip released by the Prime Minister's Office, the premier referred to 'the enormous technical and geological complexity' of the situation, emphasising the need to continue working on contributions and interventions to 'renovate and make habitable further buildings'.
