L’addio di Cingolani: «Nato difficile da smantellare, ma l’Europa si rafforzi»

At least 400 euro to each displaced family in Niscemi, the small municipality in the province of Caltanissetta devastated by a landslide a few days ago. This is a sum that the Sicilian Region will entrust to the mayor Massimiliano Conti who, in turn, will assign it to each household.
All the details were released by the President of the Region Renato Schifan after an operational meeting, in Niscemi, together with Conti and the authorities - Civil Protection, the Army, the Guardia di Finanza and the Carabinieri - who are monitoring the situation.
The starting figure is 400 euro, but Schifani explained that, 'depending on the household', it can go up to 900 euro. A first step, he said, 'to make people suffer less and less'.
Funds that, according to Schifani, have not been taken away from investments 'already underway or about to start, so we have not damaged the Region's growth process. We have identified these sums that tended to be set aside, destined for residual funds of unused measures, and so we are now relying heavily on this measure'.
On compensation for damages it will be sufficient to present suitable documentation, to prove it as was done for Emilia-Romagna. 'My logic,' commented the president of the Sicilian Region, 'is to decentralise' and therefore 'empower the mayor in a relationship of maximum collaboration. We are making a team, we are making a system and this is our duty that we naturally feel'.
