Nissan unveils the Pixo: the small electric car for Europe
The Pixo – as it has been named – is set to be launched on 23 September and will mark the Japanese brand’s return to the small car market. The model will be manufactured in Europe
Nissan has announced the arrival of the new Pixo, the A-segment model set to be unveiled on 23 September. It is a small electric city car designed for urban mobility in Europe. The announcement was made to mark World EV Day, ahead of the car’s official debut. The model will be manufactured in Europe and marks Nissan’s return to the market for the most compact cars, with the aim of offering a brand-new vehicle – the solution for everyday travel – but with zero emissions.
Compact and high-tech
The Japanese manufacturer describes the new Pixo as a model which, whilst small in size, has a highly distinctive character. Indeed, the new electric car has been developed with city driving in mind, where space is limited and ease of use can play a decisive role in day-to-day driving. Nissan has not released any details regarding the battery or range, nor the power output or performance, but has simply stated that it will offer intuitive technologies and a design inspired by the brand’s electric range.
Electric vehicles for cities
With the new Pixo, Nissan will once again be offering a model in the European A-segment – that of the smallest city cars – following the discontinuation of previous models, and is targeting a specific audience: Europe and its motorists, so much so that the manufacturer emphasises that it has been developed and will be produced in Europe. The aim is to offer an affordable electric car, thereby broadening the potential audience for battery-powered mobility.
