Nivea Sun turns the spotlight on the importance of sun protection and respect for the planet. The brand will be launching targeted initiatives throughout Italy as part of the "Protection without Limits" project: a programme that combines education and skin care, to raise consumer awareness of the importance of conscious, daily sun protection together with the Italian Red Cross with a tour that from June to August will touch 9 Italian cities and seaside resorts, bringing educational initiatives aimed at young people and adults to raise awareness of the risks of inadequate sun exposure. At each stop there will be a mobile dermatological clinic where everyone will be able to have a free skin screening, in the presence of a dermatologist, and receive useful indications on how to prevent sunburn, protect the skin and reduce the risk of diseases thanks to the support of CRI volunteers.
To continue to promote the importance of daily sun protection, even away from the beaches, Nivea Sun is launching the travelling initiative 'The Sun Bathers'. Throughout the country, in city parks, central squares and tourist destinations, engaging consumer activities will be promoted through which to spread and emphasise the culture of daily sun protection. The protagonists will be special 'lifeguards' who will act as spokespersons for the awareness-raising message about caring for your skin from the sun every day, wherever you are. Among the activities, the Nivea Sun Protect&Hydrate sun products will also be distributed, the line designed for complete protection thanks to the new formula that acts through a double level of defence: on the surface, UVA and UVB filters that are also effective against visible light immediately protect against sun damage; in depth, the antioxidant complex of plant origin Citracell-Protect helps to fight free radicals, helping to protect the skin from long-term damage. The new, improved formula offers up to 48 hours of hydration and is characterised by its extra-light, fast-absorbing texture, leaving the skin protected, fresh and non-sticky.
Coinciding with the beginning of the summer season, NIVEA renews for the third consecutive year the "Oasi Marina" project dedicated to the underwater reforestation of Posidonia oceanica, the most important marine plant for the conservation of the ecosystems of our seas. After the previous editions on the Island of Elba and Palmaria and Torre Guaceto, this year the project arrives at the "Regno di Nettuno" Protected Marine Area on the Island of Ischia, where about 2,000 cuttings will be planted on a 200 square metre area to restore a degraded sea grass meadow thanks to the collaboration with Fondazione Medsea, an organisation specialised in restoring marine ecosystems. "Oasi Marina" is part of the company's commitment to environmental sustainability: packaging and formulations are carefully designed to minimise their impact on our planet's ecosystems.
"We are very proud of the projects we will be carrying out with Nivea over the summer and throughout the year. We have always been committed to taking care of people and their skin not only through the development of high-quality products and formulations, but also through concrete actions in favour of society and the environment. For this reason, we consider it essential to take active steps to raise awareness and educate the public on conscious exposure to the sun, all year round and especially in the summertime,' says Anna Grassano, general manager Beiersdorf Southern Europe. 'Our initiatives are fully in line with our 'Care Beyond Skin' approach, whereby we take care of society and the environment, with the aim of improving people's quality of life in a tangible and responsible way.
