"Italy is the only country that still does not produce nuclear energy," recalled the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso , during the Teha Forum in Cernobbio, which closed on Sunday 8 September. 'By the end of this year,' he added, 'we will present a regulatory framework and we are working on an Italian Newco, with a foreign technological partnership, which will allow advanced third-generation nuclear power to be produced in Italy in the near future. Produce the reactors in Italy and then install them where they are required in the world and certainly in Italy'. Urso therefore used the Cernobbio audience to talk about energy and anticipate the executive's plans.

In Italy's Pniec there is also nuclear power

.

In July, Italy presented the updated Energy and Climate Plan (Pniec) in Brussels. This included, and this was the first time, a specific section devoted to the work of the National Platform for a Sustainable Nuclear Power: it assumes an integration with renewables that alone could account for 11% of the energy produced in 2050 with a possible projection to 22%. "It is a planning tool that traces our energy and climate path with great pragmatism, overcoming unrealistic approaches of the past," was the comment of the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin on the occasion. The minister emphasised in particular 'the scenario on nuclear energy, both from fission in the medium term (from 2035 onwards) and from fusion (close to 2050), which makes us look ahead to a possible future'.

Salvini: with a referendum Italians would say yes to nuclear power

"I am convinced that if there were a possibility of holding a referendum the majority of Italians would say yes to the return of nuclear power. The ministry is working to bring Italy back into the context of civilised and developed countries, it is fundamental' otherwise 'it is unconditional surrender and suicide'. Thus the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini at the Teha Forum in Cernobbio. 'I believe,' he continued, 'that Italy can no longer say no to nuclear power, and one of the most important missions of this government, based on development, merit, and market economy, is to bring Italy back into the context of modernity, efficiency, and environmental sustainability by restarting the nuclear dossier.
