Nuclear power stations: partnership signed in Paris between Italy’s Caen and France’s CEA
Caen Solutions Nucléaires, an Italian-French joint venture between the Italian company specialising in artificial intelligence applied to measurement and the French public body, has been established in Paris
Caen Solutions Nucléaires, a new Italian-French company, has been established in Paris and aims to become a key player in the nuclear instrumentation sector. The initiative brings together CEA Investissement, the investment arm of the French public body CEA, the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission, and Caen-Costruzioni Apparecchiature Elettroniche Nucleari Spa, a leading European manufacturer of nuclear electronics and instrumentation, and Aineo, an expert in supporting companies in the field of nuclear measurement and AI applied to measurement. The aim of the partnership is to offer modern solutions tailored to the needs of French and European industrial operators, to promote research and to capitalise on the opportunities presented by a rapidly growing market.
Caen: Italian excellence
Caen is an Italian company, based in Viareggio, and a leader in measurement systems used in major international nuclear physics experiments. A leading supplier to CERN in Geneva and the IAEA, Caen has sales offices in the US and Germany and is present in 80 countries worldwide, supplying instrumentation and support to research centres and sites involved in the nuclear industry. This commitment is recognised internationally, as demonstrated by the Paris Agreement.
Technological sovereignty
The focus is on the future of nuclear power, which cannot be envisaged without its measuring instruments, in the knowledge that, in nuclear power stations, everything hinges on one thing: the ability to measure accurately. Particle fluxes, radiation, system performance… instrumentation lies at the heart of plant management and safety.
It is within this context that Caen Solutions Nucléaires operates. A strategic initiative aimed at technological autonomy, offering solutions tailored to the needs of industrial operators, through the revitalisation of nuclear programmes, the fuel cycle, new reactors and the challenges of decommissioning: the demand for reliable and precise instrumentation is booming.
And Caen is ready to take centre stage. “This Italian-French partnership demonstrates that the Italian nuclear supply chain is of the very highest standard,” says Chairman Jacopo Givoletti, “and that Caen Spa can play a key role.” The chairman of Caen Sn will be Massimo Morichi, an international expert in the sector and executive vice-chairman of Caen Spa.
