Food, workers more supportive and willing to volunteer 2 hours per week
A survey conducted by Unionfood, FAI, FLAI, UILA and GI-Group-ODM HR Consulting, explains that 97% of workers in the sector in Milan recognise companies' commitment to ESG issues
Food workers, at least in the Milan area where the headquarters of companies in the sector are mainly concentrated, seem to be more sensitive to social responsibility issues. This is stated by the data presented at a conference organised by Unione Italiana Food with the trade unions Fai, Flai and Uila and Gi group, the result of a research carried out by ODM Consulting.
Workers' sensitivity to these issues is a direct consequence of the commitment of the companies themselves in which they work. In fact, one of the most relevant data is that 97% of the workers in food companies in the Milan area recognise the companies' commitment to social responsibility issues. And over 60% are prepared to dedicate up to two hours per week to social responsibility projects. Time outside working hours, testifying to their sensitivity. The question that arises is how the sector got this far. The answer that came out of the conference attended by companies and trade unions lies partly in bargaining. This is recognised by 57% of workers, i.e. almost 6 out of 10, who indicate collective bargaining as a key tool for developing sustainability in companies, confirming the dialogue between companies and trade unions as an integral part of the ESG agenda. The study offered many insights, certainly one of the most relevant is the role of collective bargaining in ensuring the effectiveness of projects as well.
