Nvidia CEO: 'China will beat the US, win the race for artificial intelligence'
The Asian giant could overtake the US in the race for artificial intelligence thanks to low costs and less restrictive regulations
China will beat the US in the race for artificial intelligence thanks to lower energy costs and less stringent regulations. Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang told the Financial Times. Huang then explained that the West, including the US and the UK, is held back by 'cynicism. We need more optimism'.
In October, the number one of the leading company in artificial intelligence chips said that the US could win the battle of artificial intelligence if the world, including China's huge developer base, used Nvidia systems. However, he complained that the Chinese government has excluded them from its market.
China's access to advanced artificial intelligence chips, particularly those produced by Nvidia - the world's largest company by market capitalisation - remains a critical issue in its technological rivalry with the US, as both nations vie for supremacy in cutting-edge computing and artificial intelligence.
"We want America to win this artificial intelligence race. There is no doubt about it," Huang said at the Nvidia developer conference held in Washington last month. "We want the world to be built on American technology. Absolutely we do. But we also need to be in China to win over their developers. A policy that makes America lose half of the world's AI developers is not beneficial in the long run, in fact, it hurts us even more,' he added.
US President Donald Trump said in an interview aired on Sunday that Nvidia's most advanced Blackwell chips should be reserved exclusively for US customers.
