"This is it, this is happening". This is it, this is happening: this was the official announcement of the long-awaited Oasis reunion that appeared on their X profile at 9am (Italian time) on 27 August. The pretext, as had been leaked in recent days, is a 14-concert tour that will take them to major venues in England and Ireland between July and August 2025, to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, the album that brought them to the attention of the international rock audience. Tickets go on sale from Saturday 31 August on the Ticketmaster platform, Live Nation group, for those who want to give it a thought. Meanwhile, on 30 August Sony Music will release the Deluxe 30th Anniversary Edition of the debut album Definitely Maybe.

The first shows will take place at Principality Stadium Cardiff on 4 and 5 July next year. Then four dates at home, at Manchester Heaton Park (11, 12, 19 and 20 July), four at Wembley (25 and 26 July, 2 and 3 August), two in Edinburgh, Scotland, at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium (8 and 9 August) and two at Dublin's Croke Park Stadium (16 and 17 August). Given the extremely high demand, the Gallagher brothers added tthree additional dates in Manchester (16 July), London (30 July) and Edinburgh (12 August) to the panel of dates. Convincing the 'knife brothers' Liam and Noel Gallagher, reportedly a cachet totalling £60m.

Cain and Abel, live in Manchester

The reunion takes place after the beauty 15 years and two not-always-flawless solo careers. The story of Liam and Noel is as old as time: two brothers growing up side by side, knowing, liking, envying and hating each other to the point of playing off each other to determine which of the two is the centre of their very special universe. There is a bit of the Cain and Abel myth or - if you prefer - the primordial duel of Romulus and Remus. A founding myth, only in this case the centre of the scene is the far from epic Manchester, the grey industrial capital of the United Kingdom: on one side Noel Gallagher, guitarist and composer, and on the other Liam, above all singer.

Put your money where your mouth is (and vice versa)

.

Together they have been the brains and brawn of Oasis, the flagship band of the Brit-pop phenomenon - that irresistible Beatlesque revival of the Nineties - for eighteen years on the crest of the wave, the stuff of 70 million records seen worldwide. But who knows how many copies they must have sold (and continue to sell) to the British tabloids, because they've been playing them since they were kids and every occasion seems to be a good one for them to reiterate: 'I'm the better of the two'. Except when the cheque is big. Today, it is estimated that Noel's personal fortune, strong with royalties, would be around 70 million dollars, while that of Liam, a rather prodigal boy, would amount to just 6 million. All this until today, because the 2025 reunion could change everything. For talent manager Jonathan Shalit, the total revenue from tickets, sponsors, merchandising and TV rights can be estimated at around £400 million. Each brother could get something like 50 million pounds. Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth is: put your money where your mouth is, to quote the title of one of their old pieces. But also vice versa.
