Christian Raimo, teacher and writer, has been suspended from teaching for three months, with a 50% pay cut, after insulting Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara. The disciplinary measure of the Regional School Office was taken for Raimo's criticism of the minister of the Meloni government, in a public debate on school, at the Avs national party.

Usr: from Raimo insults not constructive criticism

Raimo's statements against Minister Valditara "cannot be considered constructive criticism; on the contrary, they amount to an offence that violates the fundamental principles of mutual respect and civil dialogue". These are the words of Anna Paola Sabatini, director general of the Usr Lazio with regard to the sanction imposed on professor Christian Raimo. Sabatini recalled that the teacher had previously been sanctioned because, during a speech on a television programme, he had claimed to incite young people to violence. "Teachers play a fundamental role in the education of the younger generation and should set an example of ethical and civilised behaviour for students. Encouraging respect and tolerance is an integral part of their educational mission,' the Usr concluded.

Raimo suspended: said 'Valditara waffler and filthy'

The sanctioned words were uttered by Raimo during a debate at the Avs national party entitled 'Let's protect the school from Valditara'. Christian Raimo, who was a candidate with Avs at the last European elections but was not elected, had addressed heavy words to the minister, 'cialtrone, filthy, repressive and dangerous'. Raimo then said: 'Valditara is a target to be hit like the Black Death in Star Wars'.

Pd: Raimo suspension very serious precedent

The Usr's decision immediately ignited the political debate. We consider Christian Raimo's three-month suspension with a 50% pay cut for criticising Minister Valditara to be a very serious decision," the PD parliamentarians from the education committees of the House and Senate said in a statement. Dissent is at the heart of democracy, and the suspension is likely to severely damage freedom of opinion and sets a disturbing precedent. Raimo expressed a legitimate opinion, however, at a party party and not in the performance of his function'.

Rampelli (Fdi): no to hatred and violence, yes to criticism

Fdi's opposite opinion: "Three months ago, a high school teacher involved in politics, nothing new on the left, with his baggage of insults and bizarre statements, Christian Raimo, called his minister a filthy person and, in the same speech, spoke of a target to be hit like the Black Death, of an arrogant waffler. Today, the Ministry of Education and Merit announced the three-month suspension of this pseudo professor, instigator of hatred and violence. An act due as well as just. And it just so happens that the left, obsessed with 'inclusive language' and political correctness, instead of keeping silent and confirming the rightness of the disciplinary measure, proposes to defend the author of the above-mentioned statements,' said Chamber of Deputies Vice-President Fabio Rampelli of Fratelli d'Italia.
