Officine Universelle Buly ready to set up encore shops in Italy

"We admire the aesthetics of the 19th century, a golden age for French perfumery. Our style is also quite maximalist and we have never managed to find the kind of beauty products in vials and jars that we dreamed of': Victoire de Taillac, co-founder of Officine Universelle Buly with her husband Ramdane Touhami, tells how the cosmetics brand came into being.

'The idea,' de Taillac continues, 'also came to us thanks to the former French Minister of the Economy, Arnaud Montebourg, who told Ramdane that he was a 'real César Birotteau'. The latter is a character from a beautiful novel by Balzac, completely inspired by the life and tremendous professional adventures of Jean-Vincent Buly. After two years of work and research, they opened their first store in Paris, a reinvented Parisian pharmacy, on 1 April 2014 at 6 rue Bonaparte.

'It has been an extraordinary journey and adventure that has led us to be present in twelve countries with 52 shops,' explains the entrepreneur. 'Our store in Milan is doing very well. In 2025 we will launch our first e-shop in Italian and we would like to open a second store in Italy at the end of next year'.

 

Meanwhile, for winter, the brand's focus is on the home to be scented with unexpected diffusers: "Every Buly fragrance has its own room and every room has its own Buly fragrance. We unveil the new Scented Metallic Box, an unconventional diffuser: movement causes fragrance. In addition to this, the new Scented Lantern where the heat of a light bulb becomes the scent. We like to rethink the way fragrance is used and perceived'.

He concludes: 'In 2025, we plan to open a new store in Paris and Tokyo. We will also publish a new book 'The art of being beautiful', a collection of 19th century texts on how to take care of oneself'.
