"We admire the aesthetics of the 19th century, a golden age for French perfumery. Our style is also quite maximalist and we have never managed to find the kind of beauty products in vials and jars that we dreamed of': Victoire de Taillac, co-founder of Officine Universelle Buly with her husband Ramdane Touhami, tells how the cosmetics brand came into being.
'The idea,' de Taillac continues, 'also came to us thanks to the former French Minister of the Economy, Arnaud Montebourg, who told Ramdane that he was a 'real César Birotteau'. The latter is a character from a beautiful novel by Balzac, completely inspired by the life and tremendous professional adventures of Jean-Vincent Buly. From pages to reality, a very romantic and theatrical story'.
After two years of work and research, they opened their first store in Paris, a reinvented Parisian pharmacy, on 1 April 2014 at 6 rue Bonaparte.
'It has been an extraordinary journey and adventure that has led us to be present in twelve countries with 52 shops,' explains the entrepreneur. 'Our store in Milan is doing very well. In 2025 we will launch our first e-shop in Italian and we would like to open a second store in Italy at the end of next year'.
