The Omoda & Jaecoo brand is present at the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Exhibition for the second time, presenting its range of new energy vehicles (NEV): Jaecoo 5 bev and Omoda 7 SHS. But the real novelty is the Omoda 3 compact SUV, which is hitting a strategic and larger volume segment, that of electric and, for Europe, hybrid city-sized SUVs.

The presentation took place not at the Shanghai Motor Show, but on the same days at a show in Wuhu, where the Chery group, for two decades the leading exporting Chinese car group, is based.

New Omoda 3: what it looks like and what we know

Omoda 3 is the first 'energy mecha' crossover (a reference to the aesthetics of giant robots typical of Japanese animation and science fiction) from the Chinese brand and shows innovations from an aesthetic and technological point of view, anticipating the arrival of a new 'energy mecha' styling trend in the automotive sector.

This is the first model based on the technical architecture that could be integrated with the LLM (large language models) of artificial intelligence and will thus have the fundamental ability to evolve: 'Born to evolve'.

The engine range includes several solutions: electric, hybrid and petrol, competing in its characteristics against established European models such as the Fiat Grande Panda, Jeep Avenger, Renault R4 and Captur.

New models with super hybrid technology

.

Under its global Nev strategy, the Chinese brand will continue to accelerate into 2025. Models such as the Omoda 7 SHS and the Jaecoo 5 BEV debuted at Auto Shanghai, demonstrating that innovation and agility are the keys to global success.

Over the past two years, Omoda & Jaecoo has grown with speed and stability: from the core markets of Europe to the emerging economies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the brand has successfully entered 42 countries and regions, opened more than 1,300 showrooms worldwide, and gained the trust of 500,000 global users and the passionate support of 7 million social media followers.

Growth is driven by technology: SHS fuels the brand's global expansion. The SHS propulsion system, state-of-the-art super-intelligent hybrid technology achieves a balance of ultra-high thermal efficiency of 44.5 per cent, 340 horsepower and an overall range of 1,200 km, thanks to the combination of a dedicated fifth-generation 1.5TGDI hybrid engine (DHE) and an advanced dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).

The Jaecoo 7 SHS, the first to adopt this revolutionary hybrid technology, has been considered a market standard since its launch. From its debut with a total range of 1,427.5 km in South-East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand) to 1,488.8 km in the challenging terrain of the Philippines and, finally, a revolutionary record of 1,613, in the high-altitude highlands of Mexico.

The interior is designed in a manner consistent with the exterior, in a stylistic language inspired, according to the company, by cartoon and science fiction movie spaceships. The very hi-tech dashboard features ambient lighting that continues into the door panels with decidedly space-age effects. Impossible not to notice some co. Lamborghini Urus, albeit with the appropriate sidereal distances in terms of positioning and dimensions.

Omoda 3, it must be said, impresses with its lines and technological equipment, there is even a possibility of wireless integration, a video game console, obviously only to be used when the car is stationary.

It is scheduled to hit the streets in October.
