Omoda & Jaecoo enter the full hybrid market with new SHS engines

The Chinese Omoda & Jaecoo are focusing on a dual hybrid model offering, both plug-in already available in the range and full hybrid, today's news. Omoda 5 is the first model in the Omoda & Jaecoo family to use the new full hybrid which is available with the 1.5 cc TGDi petrol and two electric units powered by a 1.8 kWh battery. The Omoda 5 SHS-H delivers 224 hp with fuel consumption of 5.3 l/100 km. It will be on sale from the end of September and offered in two trim levels: Pure from €28,500 and Premium from €31,500, both with comprehensive standard equipment including state-of-the-art Adas, 12.3-inch dual display, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto wireless connectivity and over 900 km range.

Full hybrid will also debut on Jaecoo 5

The Jaecoo 5 full hybrid compact SUV, on the other hand, will arrive on the Italian market at the end of 2025 at prices yet to be defined. While the other models in the Omoda 7 and Jaecoo 8 range will also be available as full hybrids from 2026. The new full hybrid engine combines the 4-cylinder 1.5 TGDi petrol with electric power, plus the DHT150 transmission, a 1.8 kWh battery, for a combined power output of 143 hp (thermal) and 204 hp (electric).

The distinctive features of the new Jaecoo 5 full hybrid

The aesthetic lines of the Jaecoo 5 include a vertical waterfall-effect front grille, reduced overhangs, sculpted flanks and a black gloss roof. Full LED light clusters complete the modern, yet minimalist look. The cabin is spacious and welcoming, with non-toxic, animal-friendly faux leather upholstery. The 2,620 mm wheelbase ensures ample space for passengers, while the huge 1.45 m2 panoramic roof provides plenty of light in the cabin.

The boot has a basic capacity of 480 litres, but can be expanded to 1,180 litres with the rear seats folded down. More than 35 storage compartments and scratch-resistant materials make the Jaecoo 5 easy to clean. The dashboard integrated in the dashboard offers instant readability, flanked by a vertical central screen. The two-spoke steering wheel and seats with high-density padding complete a premium driving experience.

Record sales in August for Omoda & Jaecoo

In August, Omoda & Jaecoo achieved a 1.63% share in the private market. The Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 7 models are among the top 10 in the sector, thanks to their range of up to 1,200 km and 5-star Euro NCAP safety. The Jaecoo 7 is confirmed as the absolute leader among Phev suvs in the C segment, with a 29% share in the private market. In the upper segment, the Omoda 9 leads the way among plug-in D-Duvs, both in 2nd place in the market and 1st in sales to private individuals.

Boom in sales, also international

Omoda & Jaecoo has surpassed 630,000 global deliveries in just two years since its launch in Europe, with more than 211,000 units sold since the beginning of 2025, or +38% compared to 2024. Europe, and in particular countries such as Italy, Spain and the UK, remain key areas for the Chinese brand, while expansion into other European markets such as Germany, France and Croatia continues and will provide more offers for those countries in the coming months.

Italian sales network strengthened

Finally, the strengthening of the Italian Omoda & Jaecoo network continues, with 73 dealers already operational and 110 planned by the end of 2025. The after-sales service makes use of a Logistics Centre in Basiano (MI) able to guarantee the availability of spare parts within 24/48 hours throughout Italy. The range is guaranteed for 7 years or 150,000 km, 8 years or 160,000 km for all electrical components and 12 years protection against corrosion. In addition, Omoda & Jaecoo offer a roadside assistance service not only in case of breakdown, but also in situations of accidents, attempted theft, loss of keys, running out of fuel or recharging, and even tyre damage.
