Two football centenaries celebrated with a special coin, one for each team. For the 100th anniversaries of Ssc Napoli and Ac Fiorentina, the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato will deliver to the Ministry of the Economy two silver coins, each with the logo of the Serie A football club and a representation of the city, with a value of five euros.
All these details are set out in two decrees, in which the 'issue of the currency' is 'authorised', which entered the Official Journal on 7 February 2026.
Launch details
The actual 'birthdays' will be in August for both clubs - Napoli on 1 August; Fiorentina on 29 August - but both coins will be 'legal tender as of 9 February 2026'. As stated in the fourth article of both texts, the 'quota and modalities of transfer' of the currencies will be established by subsequent measures.
How Napoli's currency will be
In the meantime, however, all the information is known. Including the author: Silvia Petrassi. They are coins in a 'proof version with coloured elements, year 2026, to be given, in special containers, to Italian or foreign organisations, associations and private individuals'. They will be 32 millimetres wide and weigh 18 grams (maximum tolerance of 5 per cent).
On the obverse side, thus the 'head' of the coin, the official coat of arms of Napoli is depicted in the centre. In the upper lap is the inscription 'REPUBBLICA ITALIANA', while in the lower lap is the inscription 'SSC NAPOLI'. On the left and right are the two dates (1926 and 2026).
