Opel renews the Astra 2026, everything we know about the new compact from Stellantis
It will make its public debut at the Brussels International Motor Show on 9 January, but has already been previewed in Russelsheim, Germany, where all Opels are produced. It will go on sale from April next year at list prices yet to be determined
Opel after the relaunch of the three suvs Mokka, Frontera and Grandland, will present in 2026 the revamped Astra in both sedan and Sports Tourer versions, the family car. The public debut is scheduled at the Brussels Motor Show on 9 January.
The mid-career restyling of the Astra is characterised by the debut of the light signature using the latest Intelli-Lux HD LED matrix headlamp technology with 50,000 elements and the Opel logo with a luminous play on both the front and rear light clusters that make the Astra's body much more streamlined.
The styling is inspired by the Vision Gran Turismo concept
It should be noted that the more modern design of the new Astra model year 2026 is inspired by a high-performance concept, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, while the debut of the illuminated Opel logo appeared for the first time on the new Opel Grandland. The emblem in the centre of the car is the starting point for the horizontal light strips up to the headlights and the bonnet crease. This is complemented by swi new 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as the two new colours white and green and the interesting combination with the contrasting black roof.
Hitech interiors, but also comfort
As far as the interior is concerned, the Opel Astra, model year 2026, offers a cabin with extra comfort, especially in terms of seating. Right from the entry-level version, in fact, the seats are AGR-certified for much more relaxed driving comfort especially on long journeys. Seats with multi-stage heating and lumbar support through to a massage solution are also available as an option. Added to this are 100% recycled seat covers and an infotainment instrument panel that is even clearer than the current one as well as more intuitive.
The electric offers a range of 454 km
Conservation of resources was the basis for the development of a planned offering for the electrified range. With a 58 kWh battery, the new Astra Electric will provide a range of up to 454 km, in fact 35 km more than the current model. Moreover, for the first time, the electric car features the V2L system and thus the possibility of recharging external devices such as e-bikes without depending on other energy sources. Finally, the new Opel Astra has a boot capacity of 1,339 litres for the saloon and up to 1,634 litres for the Sports Tourer family car.
