Opel STX Concept: the estate car of the future makes its debut in Paris
A bolder design, a revamped lighting signature and active aerodynamic solutions define a vision that combines efficiency, performance and functionality.
Key points
Opel is unveiling the STX Concept at the Paris Motor Show, a concept car that offers a glimpse into the future of the brand’s electric estate cars. A bolder design, a new lighting signature and active aerodynamics are the hallmarks of the prototype, which combines functionality, efficiency and performance whilst introducing solutions set to define the German manufacturer’s upcoming models.
A bolder design featuring lighting and sculpted surfaces
The STX Concept introduces an evolution of the Opel Vizor, the brand’s distinctive front end, which gains greater height and visual impact. The new lighting signature incorporates slanted vertical slats, whilst the illuminated Blitz logo is positioned at the centre of the Opel Compass, a design element that also characterises the rear. Here, the bodywork slopes downwards with clean lines, combining a dynamic profile with the potential to create more space for the load compartment. Slim light strips, horizontal rear lights and technical details – such as the cameras that replace traditional wing mirrors – reinforce the design’s futuristic identity. Completing the overall look are the C-pillars, featuring glass inserts that extend towards the roof, and the illuminated ‘STX’ lettering on the sides. The result is a sculpted silhouette, characterised by short overhangs and pronounced wheel arches, in which aesthetic design is integrated with aerodynamic requirements.
Active aerodynamics for efficiency and performance
Alongside design, efficiency is one of the cornerstones of the project. The Opel STX Concept incorporates intelligent aerodynamic solutions, designed to minimise drag, maximise range and improve stability at high speeds. These include three-piece alloy wheels, fitted with 22-inch Goodyear tyres in size 285/35, and an active system that regulates airflow via movable elements at the rear. Depending on driving conditions, blue diffusers extend from beneath the rear, whilst vertical elements behind the wheels extend outwards to optimise aerodynamics. The concept car also combines an innovative electric architecture with all-wheel drive and boasts a top speed of over 200 km/h, confirming its ambition to combine performance and sustainability. The interior will also follow this direction, with an evolution of the ‘Painting with Light’ concept – previously explored by Opel with the 2023 Experimental and the 2025 Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo – through immersive lighting and dedicated lightweight seats.
