Seven regions with over 17 million voters will go to the polls in just under two months: from 28 September to 24 November. In the midst of the start of the construction site on a manoeuvre obliged to the utmost prudence and an unprecedented international crisis.

The round opens on Sunday 28 September in Valle D'Aosta (a single day, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.) and in Marche, where voting will also take place on Monday 29 (until 3 p.m.). The following weekend, 5 and 6 October, voters will be called to the polls in Calabria. The one after that, open ballot boxes in Tuscany, on 12 and 13 October. Then a forty-day stop. Veneto, Puglia and Campania will go to the polls in a single round: the election day will be held on 23 and 24 November. In Tuscany there will be a ballot if neither candidate takes at least 40% of the vote (the date is 26 October). In the other regions there is no threshold: the candidate who obtains the most votes is elected President in the first round.

In Valle d'Aosta, voting will only take place on Sunday 28 September

.

In Valle D'Aosta, councillors are elected and it is then the regional legislative assembly that elects the president of the junta. The centre-right (Fdi, Forza Italia, and Lega) is united for the first time and is attempting to overcome decades of autonomist government. The Union valdotaine is aiming to confirm the leadership of the coalition and the presidency of the region, either with an autonomist majority (Union valdotaine and Autonomists of the centre) or with an autonomist-progressive majority (with the support of the PD). The Valley Regional Council consists of 35 councillors. The seats are distributed according to a proportional system. It is possible to indicate only one preference

Marches to the vote on 28 and 29 September

In the Marche region, voting will take place on Sunday 28 (from 7am to 11pm) and Monday 29 September 2025 (from 7am to 3pm). The centre-right is nominating the outgoing president Francesco Acquaroli (FdI), supported by seven lists: FdI, Lega, FI, Noi Moderati and the lists 'Udc-liste civiche', 'Civici Marche' and 'Marchigiani con Acquaroli'. For the centre-left, Matteo Ricci (Pd), MEP and former mayor of Pesaro, supported by the 'Campo Largo' (coin Iv but without Action, which is not taking part in the elections), is in the field. Once again there are sevensupporting lists: Pd, M5S, Avs, the civic 'Matteo Ricci Presidente', 'Progetto Marche', 'Avanti con Ricci' and 'Pace Salute Lavoro' (the latter with Rifondazione Comunista inside). In total, there are six candidates for governor. In addition to Acquaroli and Ricci, running for president are Claudio Bolletta (Democrazia Sovrana Popolare), Lidia Mangani (Partito Comunista Italiano), Francesco Gerardi (Forza del Popolo) and Beatrice Marinelli (Evoluzione della Rivoluzione). There are no thresholds for individual lists, whether co-listed or not.

How to vote

.

It is possible to vote for one of the lists by drawing a mark in the relevant rectangle. The voter may express up to two preferences. In the event of more than one preference being expressed, these must relate to candidates of different gender, otherwise the second preference will be invalidated. If the voter only casts his vote for one list, the vote shall also be considered validly cast in favour of the candidate for President attached to that list. The voter may also express his vote only for the candidate for President, without any list vote, by drawing a mark on the symbol or on the name of the chosen candidate. In this case, the vote shall also be considered validly cast in favour of the coalition to which the candidate for President voted for is linked. Votes cast in favour of a provincial list and a presidential candidate not connected to that list are null and void: separate voting is therefore not permitted.

Calabria to vote on 5 and 6 October

Voting will take place in Calabria on 5 and 6 October 2025. For the centre-left (without Action, which also does not present a list in this region) runs Pasquale Tridico, MEP M5S and former president of the Inps, supported by six lists: Partito Democratico, Movimento 5 Stelle, Democratici e Progressisti, Casa riformista, Lista Tridico presidente and Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra. The centre-right is fielding Roberto Occhiuto (FI), who resigned in July after being investigated in a corruption enquiry. There are eight lists in support: Forza Italia, Fratelli d'Italia, Lega, Occhiuto Presidente, Forza Azzurri, Noi Moderati, Democrazia Cristiana-Udc and Sud chiama Nord-Partito Animalista. Francesco Toscano, of 'Democrazia sovrana popolare', is also running,

The voter may vote for a constituency list linked to the presidential candidate of his choice and, within this list, express up to two preferences, provided they refer to candidates of different gender. There is no disjointed voting, so it is not possible to vote for a presidential candidate and at the same time choose a list supporting another candidate.

In Tuscany elections on 12 and 13 October

Voting will take place in Tuscany on 12 and 13 October. The outgoing president Eugenio Giani (Pd) is seeking reconfirmation, supported by the Pd, M5S, Avs and Casa riformista, the fourth leg of the broad camp (some Florentine renzian bigwigs, Stefania Saccardi, Francesco Casini and Titta Meucci, the regional coordinator of +Europa, Federico Eligi, are also in it). The united centre-right is fielding Alessandro Tomasi (FdI), mayor of Pistoia. There are two outsiders: Antonella Bundu with the radical left-wing Toscana Rossa list and the no-vax party Forza del Popolo, which is nominating doctor Carlo Giraldi.

By drawing a mark on a list you cast a vote for that list and for the presidential candidate linked to it. By making a mark only on a presidential candidate, you vote only for that candidate, without casting a vote for the lists. You can also cast a split vote. That is, choose a presidential candidate and then a list that is linked to another presidential candidate. In this case, both the vote for the presidential candidate and the vote for the chosen list count. There are three thresholds: 10% for list coalitions, 3% for lists within coalitions and 5% for single lists.

Election day in Veneto, Puglia and Campania on 23-24 November

Finally, on 23 and 24 November, voting will take place in Veneto, Apulia and Campania, regions where the list of presidential candidates has not yet been finalised. In Veneto, the centre-left is putting forward the former mayor of Treviso, Giovanni Manildo, of the PD, while the centre-right has not yet decided who to field in place of the outgoing president, Luca Zaia, who can no longer stand. In Apulia, on the other hand, the centre-left coalition is counting on Antonio Decaro, Pd MEP and former mayor of Bari, while the centre-right does not yet have an official candidate. The situation is the same in Campania, where the centre-left, which can no longer recandidate Vincenzo De Luca after two terms in office, has chosen the Pentastelite former president of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico, while there is still no name for the centre-right.
