TDV, the first Indian design school in Europe, opens in Pavia
"European 'spin-off' of the institute founded in 2014 in Noida, near New Delhi
Design as an engine of social transformation, through key themes for the development of the Planet such as mobility, sustainability and urban regeneration.
With this aim in mind, The Design Village (TDV), an institute dedicated to design as a tool for understanding human systems, cultural contexts and the social impact of objects and spaces, was founded in 2014 in Noida, near New Delhi.
Today TDV officially inaugurated its first campus in Europe, in Borgo Priolo in the province of Parma, not by chance choosing Italia, the home of design, for the headquarters of the school, which is also backed by a long-standing collaboration with the Milan Polytechnic. It will thus be the first Asian design institute to open a physical campus, with an academic presence, in our country.
"This initiative marks a significant change in the way Indian design education relates to global systems, with the aim of proactively contributing to the international debate on design and creativity," reads a note released by the institute.
The new campus in Italia reflects this philosophy, offering students the opportunity to immerse themselves and learn about Europe's design heritage from the inside, while encouraging intercultural exchange and interdisciplinary thinking in real-world contexts.
