US, North Kosovo and Bosnia pose greater risks to the Balkans
Europe and Eurasia, according to which the risk in the region is that "a few local disputes could turn into a vast political conflagration, returning the countries of the region to the past". In statements to the Tanjug, the US diplomat emphasised that the Western Balkans belong to Europe, and must move forward and make progress. "The greatest risks are in the north of Kosovo and in the threats of secession (of the Serbian component) in Bosnia and Herzegovina," noted O'Brien, according to whom that is why the NATO presence has been strengthened in recent months both in Kosovo, with the Kfor mission, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina with additional contingents in support of Eufor.
Case dismissed where Puigdemont was accused of terrorism
News in Spain from the judicial front concerning the Catalan secessionist movement and some of its political leaders, among them Carles Puigdemont. In fact, the investigating judge has just ordered the filing of the so-called 'Tsunami case', an enquiry into the activities of a pro-secession collective (called Tsunami Democràtic), considered by the prosecution to be subversive, and alleged links with leading separatist figures: a case in which the former president of Catalonia himself was also involved, as a suspect for 'terrorism'. The decision to file the investigation, taken by magistrate Manuel García Castellón, came after the Audiencia Nacional court had declared only part of the case file valid, annulling the one dating from July 2021 onwards due to a form error. The deletion of the case, Spanish media specify, currently concerns several suspects in the case, but not yet Puigdemont himself: this is due to the fact that, in the meantime, the part of the investigation on him has been transferred to the Supreme Court, which is responsible for cases on persons holding public office (and this is the case of the independence leader, who is a member of the European Parliament in the 2019-2024 legislature). Although he is therefore still formally under investigation, the indictment against him is in fact now to be considered almost certainly untenable. A decision on the matter is therefore also awaited from the Supreme Court. In recent months, the 'Tsunami case' has had a lot of media coverage in Spain, as the news about it went hand in hand with the negotiations for an amnesty for the secessionists, which was part of the political agreement that then allowed Socialist Pedro Sánchez to win his third term as premier.

Gone are the references to 'traditional marriage as one 'between a man and a woman'. Also gone is the emphasis on reducing the national debt, replaced by the milder phrase 'reducing government waste'. The rest of the platform reflects the priorities outlined on Trump's campaign website, from the hard line on immigration to protectionism

WHO, Gaza needs 80,000 litres of fuel per day for health care
The World Health Agency (WHO) is again denouncing the severe fuel shortage in Gaza that poses a "catastrophic" risk to the Palestinian enclave's health system. The need for Gaza's health services is estimated at 80,000 litres per day," said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus." The lack of fuel forces the UN, including the WHO, and their partners to make impossible choices," the WHO chief regretted. The last 90,000 litres of fuel that entered Gaza were allocated "to key hospitals" such as the Nasser Medical Centre, the Al-Amal hospital in Khan Younis and a Kuwaiti field hospital in Rafah. Fuel was also provided to 21 ambulances operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to "prevent complete disruption of services", he further said. "We cannot repeat this enough: Gaza can no longer lose its hospitals," he insisted, reiterating his call for the reopening of the Rafah humanitarian crossing." Fuel shortages are recurrent in the besieged enclave, where fuel is used for hospital generators, humanitarian vehicles and desalination units or bakeries, some of which operate with the help of the World Food Programme. But, aid workers warn, while the humanitarian situation remains dire, if this fuel shortage continues, the bakeries also risk closing their doors.

The authorities arrested Cuban citizen Ardenys García Álvarez, the alleged leader of the network, who emigrated "illegally" to the United States in 2014 and returned to Cuba "by sea", with "firearms and ammunition", as published by the ministry in the official newspaper 'Granma'. "The actions of the Interior Ministry's forces prevented the implementation of the plans conceived, directed and financed, once again, by the United States, and generated an investigative process focused on the facts and the people involved," the text reads.
