Oscar, 'One Battle After Another' is one of the masterpieces of the century

by Stefano Biolchini and Andrea Chimento
We certainly didn't need the Oscars to make us realise this, but when an award is deserved, it is always a pleasure to comment on it: One Battle After Another is the film of the year, also for the Academy Awards, which awarded it the most important statuette of this 98th edition. And this time we fully agree with the Academy!
Paul Thomas Anderson
Paul Thomas Anderson's (chief)work thus overcame competition from Ryan Coogler'sThe Sinners, a film that posed a real threat to the winner, especially since it started from the record number of no less than 16 nominations.
Let us begin with its author, Paul Thomas Anderson, who also won Oscars for Best Director and Best Non-Original Screenplay, and who has been one of the greatest auteurs in the business for many years now:A Battle After Another is in fact yet another piece in the extraordinary mosaic that is his filmography, consisting of other portentous titles such as Magnolia, The Oilman, The Master, The Hidden Thread or Licorice Pizza.
