The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has claimed responsibility on social media for two attacks on oil facilities in Russia. In the last few hours, however, Russian troops have also targeted the city of Kherson and 40 other towns and villages in the area
Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian armed forces have launched more than 60 attacks on the Russian region of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine, killing one civilian and injuring another. This was announced by the acting governor, Alexander Shuvayev, as reported by the Tass news agency. “The Ukrainian armed forces have carried out 64 attacks on the Belgorod region in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, a deliberate attack killed a civilian in the Shebekino district. Another civilian was injured in the Rakitnoye district,” he wrote on the messaging platform Max. The attacks targeted the city of Belgorod and the districts of Belgorod, Borisovka, Valuyki, Volokonovka, Graivoron, Gubkin, Ivnya, Krasnaya Yaruga, Rakitnoye, Shebekino and Yakovlevo. Four of the attacks were carried out using artillery; furthermore, over the past day, 102 Ukrainian drones have been neutralised and shot down over the Belgorod region.
Zelensky confirms attack on Krasnodar: “A second refinery has also been hit”
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, subsequently claimed on social media responsibility for two attacks in the last few hours on oil facilities located in Russia. “Our fighters began Ukraine’s Constitution Day with great precision,” he wrote, confirming a raid that struck an oil refinery in Slavyansk in the Krasnodar region, and announcing a second attack. “We have also struck a refinery in the Yaroslavl region, some 700 kilometres from our border,” said Zelensky.
Russian missiles strike Kyiv
Overnight, Russian troops launched a missile attack on Kyiv. This was reported by the Ukrainian news agency RBC, citing the capital’s military command and the mayor, Vitali Klitschko. The mayor confirmed that air defence forces were operational and urged citizens to remain in shelters. At least seven explosions were heard in the capital. Following the Russian attack, fires broke out in several buildings in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. One person was injured.
