Jasmine Paolini lost in the final in Paris to world number one Iga Swiatek: a match without history, finished 6-2, 6-1 in just over an hour. The Pole - defending champion - is a machine that never jams, Jasmine could do nothing to stop such a sustained and constant rhythm. Swiatek, 23, wins the Roland Garros trophy for the fourth time (the third consecutive time); it is her fifth Slam title (after the Us Open won in 2022).
It was a beautiful tournament, the one played by the Italian ('those were the best days of my life', she said at the end of the match), who reached the final (the first of her career in a Slam) by beating the world number 4 (and already winner at Wimbledon) Elena Rybakina in the quarters and then 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the semifinals. At the same pace she went on in the doubles paired with the veteran Sara Errani, with whom she won the final to be played on Sunday against Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova.
Jasmine, 28, from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana in Tuscany, will be world number 7 from Monday.

Bolelli and Vavassori defeated

Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori went down in the doubles final, losing to Croatian Mate Pavic and Salvadoran Marcelo Arevalo (seeded number 9) in two sets, 7-5, 6-3 in just over an hour and a half. The Italians have some regrets, especially in the first set, for not having taken advantage of four break points at 5 evens. This is the second defeat in a Slam final, after the one lost in Melbourne last January.
