First historic gold medal for the Italian giant slalom sitting with Renè De Silvestro

René De Silvestro finished in the lead in the first heat of the day in the Giant Slalom in the sitting category.

Italy's Cristian Toninelli in the sprint pursuit qualification among the athletes competing standing has the 13th time, only one penalty in the shot put for him. A chance to steal a few more positions in the final, Toninelli is aiming for the top 10.

The Italian finished 2.22 seconds ahead of the Norwegian.

In the Standing category Giant Slalom, 3rd time at the end of the first run for Federico Pelizzari, 9th for Luca Palla. Out went Davide Bendotti.

He closed in 55.10 in the first heat of the men's banked slalom SB-LL2.

10/10 in qualification for him.

"Solid first run without overdoing it, even if Jack arrives with some knee inflammation and a few days of giant slalom in his legs," said Andrea Ravelli, Giacomo Bertagnolli's guide. "It's a nice track," commented Jack. "I'm not in the best condition. But I have done many races where I was not in the best condition and won them, so let's try," promises the Italian skier, who finished the first downhill in 01:02.76.

Jacopo Luchini finished first after the first heat of the men's banked slalom with upper limb disability.

Paolo Priolo twelfth.

The Italian pair finished in first place at the end of the first run of the Vision Impaired Giant Slalom.
