Italy finally ended the pool trials at the Paralympics in Paris with gold in the 4X100 mixed freestyle relay. Stefano Raimondi, Giulia Terzi, Xenia Francesca Palazzo and Simone Barlaam won the title and medal number 69 for the Italian expedition (equalled the Tokyo record, but with nine more golds, making it 23 at the moment).

Also in swimming, Giulia Terzi won her third bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. After those in the 100 and 400 style, the 29-year-old Italian was third in the 50 butterfly S7, confirming her result from three years ago in Tokyo. Terzi finished in 35.40. Gold went to Canadian Danielle Dorris (33.62), silver to American Mallory Weggemann (34.94).

Raimondi: I wanted to try for the gold poker and I succeeded

.

"Unbelievable, I was thinking about it this morning, I was dreaming about it, I wanted to try to make the poker of golds. I knew I had the breaststroke fraction stronger than the others and I tried to push as hard as I could, and then I tried to control. Also because then it will be a battle in the relay and there I want to be able to give 110% to be able to bring home an important result," said the athlete of the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro della Polizia di Stato. "My goal has always been to improve Tokyo, and I had already succeeded in the third race with two golds, then the trail continued, so I can only be satisfied with the work done, starting with my family, whom I thank, my team, my sports group the Fiamme Oro, my coach Giuseppe Longinotti and my trainer Barbara, who have allowed me to be here. I am at the top of a pyramid that has worked 100%'.

Amodeo: a race in recovery, but it went well

"Now I am officially destroyed, but it went well. Until the last two metres it was a 'help me not take it, help me not take it!' I knew I would have to catch up in the second 50, let's just say I didn't make it easy for myself because I went a bit too slow in the first 50, so it was all a comeback race. Until I saw the light on the block I thought I had lost it! But it's very nice,' Amodeo said. 'The time is my personal best, I started with the goal of setting three personal bests in three races and I did that. There was a dream to bring home these two golds like at the World Championships, but it was much much more difficult than one could have thought before starting, and then the bronze yesterday was an incredible surprise,' added the 23-year-old Italian. "It has been three years of discovering myself as an athlete. In Tokyo it was all about chasing a dream, without being well aware of the path I was on, I relied totally on the coaches and it worked with that silver in the 400 that came not out of nowhere but almost. And in these three years it has been year after year a continuous improvement, and I would say that these Games were the crowning achievement of this three-year period,' Amodeo explained again.
