Patrick Del Bigio, the chief executive of Prelios Sgr, has died at the age of 52

Patrick Del Bigio, chief executive of Prelios Sgr – Prelios’s asset management company, one of Italy’s leading alternative asset management groups, which has been owned by Ion Group since 2024 – has died. He is survived by his wife and two children.
He joined Prelios in March 2020 (following a resolution of 26 February by the Board of Directors of Prelios Sgr, chaired at the time by Giancarlo Scotti) to replace Sergio Cavallino (the group’s chief financial officer, who had also become acting CEO in October 2019), Del Bigio took over with the aim of developing the alternative asset management platform.
Born in Monza on 26 September 1973, Patrick Del Bigio has worked throughout his career in London and New York for Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch International, SNB Stabfund / UBS and, subsequently, at Blackrock in London as a Portfolio Manager in the Credit-Alternative division. He graduated with a degree in economics from Trinity College, Dublin, and also obtained an Executive MBA from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Prelios Sgr – the Group’s management company – has assets under management of approximately €9 billion, spread across some 47 funds, one of which is an umbrella fund, and five externally managed Sicafs, three of which are umbrella funds.
