For CAV-Concessioni Autostradali Venete, the financial statements for the year 2024 closed with a profit of EUR 29.3 million. Revenues reached EUR 163.1 million with a gross operating margin of EUR 95 million. In particular, there was an increase in the cost of infrastructure maintenance and safety work and almost EUR 6 million to support research for Hyper Transfer, a project aimed at studying an alternative freight and passenger transport system and conducted on the basis of the memorandum of understanding signed in 2022 by CAV, the Veneto Region and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

L’assemblea

The figures for the annual financial year were presented on Wednesday 14 May in Mestre at the company's shareholders' meeting (Veneto Region and Autostrade dello Stato), during which the board of directors was also renewed: Monica Manto as president, Maria Rosaria Anna Campitelli as CEO, Christian Schiavon, Lucio Tiozzo Fasiolo and Carlo Vaghi as directors.

Cash and cash equivalents as at December 2024 amounted to EUR 215.2 million (of which EUR 149.9 million was restricted). "A considerable amount of liquidity that expresses the Company's financial solidity," reads the note issued at the end of the meeting, "and its ability to meet its commitments, starting with the investments planned for the period 2025-2032 and amounting to 104.6 million, and maintenance, which is expected to weigh in the same period at 130.5 million. The Company's creditworthiness is also confirmed by the latest assessment of the Moody's rating agency, which, in January 2025, assigned CAV a Baa1 rating with a stable outlook, one of the best results issued by the agency to Italian companies.

The numbers

.

For President Monica Manto, "The 2024 budget reflects the quality of the work carried out so far by the entire outgoing Board of Directors. I am grateful to the Shareholders Autostrade dello Stato and Regione del Veneto for their trust and for the appointment at the helm of CAV, to continue the teamwork for an efficient and sustainable development of the regional motorway infrastructure".

In 2024, more than 53 million vehicles passed through the closed system operated by CAV (corresponding to the tolled sections), an increase of +2.11% compared to 2023. In the open system (toll-free sections), 31.5 million vehicles passed through, an increase of +1.55% over the previous year.

The increase in transit traffic brought with it a slight increase in accidents, which in 2024 totalled 234, with a consequent increase in the accident rate (a calculation that allows a correct comparison of data by cross-referencing the number of accidents and the mileage travelled in a standard period of 100 million kilometres) from 10.90 to 12.63. However, all the reference rates for property and personal injuries remain well below the national average values published by AISCAT.

The Other Areas

.

For the third consecutive year, CAV presented the Non-Financial Declaration, which demonstrates with objective and certified parameters its commitment to sustainability in all fields of activity and its approach to the creation of shared value with its stakeholders. At the centre of the Company's actions remain the people who work there on a daily basis. CAV's staff consists of 212 employees, 97% of whom are on permanent contracts.

Economic performance should also be read from the perspective of the contribution a company brings to its stakeholders and the social ecosystem in which it operates. For CAV in 2024, this means having distributed an economic value equivalent to over 104 million euros in the area, compared to the total 182 million euros generated. This figure is made up of payments to suppliers for 35%, remuneration to staff for 11%, remuneration to the PA through taxes and levies for 7% and shares paid to lenders for 5%.

For a company that deals with mobility, reducing its environmental footprint is particularly important,' reads the statement. 'In 2024, CAV reduced its energy consumption compared to the previous year, going from a total consumption of about 42,500 GJ to one of 41,742 GJ, contributing with self-production through its photovoltaic plants to the reduction of environmental impact. The company was also involved in actions to reduce the risk of hydrogeological instability, with the creation of water collection areas and green belts characterised by the planting of trees, as well as to manage noise pollution, with the installation of soundproofing structures and anti-noise flooring. Maintenance continues on the 'Passante Verde', a naturalistic area flanking the motorway section, a true green corridor of biodiversity.
