Peru, magnitude 6 earthquake in the port city of Chimbote

An earthquake of magnitude 6 was felt in several cities in northern Peru at 3.51am Italian time (9.51pm Saturday in Peru). No casualties are reported at the moment. This was reported by the local media, the Efe agency and the Geophysical Institute of Peru (Igp). The epicentre of the quake was located 67 kilometres west of the port city of Chimbote. The tremor was recorded at a depth of 52 kilometres.
