"In an increasingly global market, Piedmont is becoming the right place to invest". This was explained by the President of the Region, Alberto Cirio, and the Regional Councillor for Internationalisation, Fabrizio Ricca, who explained that "the commitment of the institutions in fostering the capacity to attract investment to our territory and promoting the internationalisation of our companies is producing exceptional results that have been recognised by qualified observers". In 2023, the Region carried out over 220 activities to promote investment opportunities in its territory, involving over 2,200 companies. In all, it managed to attract 235 potential projects with a value of €5.5 billion and which could bring 5,800 new jobs to the Region.

On the other hand, 159 investment projects were assisted in sectors ranging from ICT to logistics, 17 incoming events were organised in the area and 5 projects were successfully closed. Local companies were also accompanied by the institutions with local routes and services to develop their business and look outside Italy. They participated in workshops, in-depth meetings and business conventions from the United States to China. The Region also co-financed eight row integration projects under the Piedmont Development and Cohesion Plan 2000-2020.

This dynamism in attracting investments 'can be seen in strategic sectors such as aerospace, a fast-growing production segment, but also in historical industrial sectors such as automotive,' added president Cirio and councillor Ricca. 'In our strategy, carried out by the Foreign Trade Centre for Internationalisation, institutions and companies must work side by side to guarantee the territory a substantial competitive advantage and lasting growth.

Piedmont among the most attractive regions for business in Europe

Also testifying to the increasingly relevant role of Piedmontese companies on an international level was the participation in the 2024 edition of Mipim in Cannes, the show where the most influential players from all sectors of the international real estate world meet. The region was awarded by the Financial Times as sixth among the 10 best large European territories for its investment attraction strategy. "We are reaping the fruits of the capillary work we have done with other institutions such as Unioncamere and Ceip," said Region Vice-President Fabio Carosso. "This year in Cannes we have strengthened the work we have done and continued to create opportunities for development and wealth for our territory, which deserves to be enhanced: from the lakes to the mountains, from the hills to the cities of art, Piedmont is a land to be discovered and experienced.

Fairs and missions abroad

In 2023, Piedmont hosted numerous events, with the aim of bringing together the excellence of local manufacturing, industry, creativity and innovation with key players and international buyers. These included the Hypercar Event for the high-flying car industry, the second edition of Experience Piemonte Luxury Design Wellness Taste, an initiative that brings together Piedmontese excellence in consumer goods with international operators, and the ninth edition of Aerospace & Defense Meetings. Abroad, Piedmont participated in Mipim in Cannes and the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, the world's largest aerospace event.

It also organised a business promotion roadshow. Events included the handover between Lake Placid and Turin for the Winter Universiade in New York, as well as 'Made in Piemonte in London', 'Invest in Piemonte - London' and 'Made in Piemonte in Copenhagen'. These are the stages of a roadmap organised as part of integrated supply chain projects. These appointments involved Piedmontese companies with production of excellence in the agrifood, textile, furnishing and design sectors and included moments, also with institutional representatives, to illustrate the opportunities offered by the Region to international operators and investors.
