Pier Paolo Pasolini and poetry in schools: an initiative by the Study Centre in Casarsa

How can we bring Pasolini into the classroom and make poetry a living subject for the younger generations? This is the question at the heart of the course ‘Pier Paolo Pasolini and Poetry in Schools’, organised by the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Centre in Casarsa della Delizia (Pordenone) and aimed at teachers in lower and upper secondary schools.

Organised by Professor Andrea Zannini of the University of Udine, the course will take place between September and October and will comprise 20 hours, featuring academics and teaching specialists. The initiative, which the Study Centre has been running for several years, will bring together academics, educational specialists and teachers, with the aim of combining an in-depth study of Pasolini’s work with practical suggestions for classroom teaching.

The programme includes in-depth sessions on Pasolini’s life and work, Friulian poetry, his relationship with schools and pedagogy, as well as practical suggestions for teaching poetry and using Pasolini’s verses in the classroom. The course is free of charge, recognised by the MIM, and entitles participants to time off work.
