Plane crash in Peru: funerals for the seven Italian victims to be held on Saturday
The bodies of the seven victims from Brianza will be returned to Italia on Thursday 27 August.
The Gianturco family’s funeral will be held on Saturday 29 August, at 10.45 am in Monza Cathedral. Paolo Gianturco, aged 59, a senior partner at Deloitte; his wife Cristina Maria Bianco, aged 57, a managing director at Andersen Consulting; and their sons Pietro and Matteo, aged 18 and 24, died when a small light aircraft they were travelling in crashed in Peru on 1 August 2026.
The tragedy also affected a second family from Brianza, the Angeluccis of Seregno, comprising Massimo Angelucci, aged 58, his wife Elena Sala and their son Lorenzo, aged 24. Their funeral will also take place on Saturday at 3 pm in the Basilica of San Giuseppe in Seregno.
The bodies of the seven victims will be returned to Italia on Thursday 27 August.
They are due to arrive at Malpensa Airport this morning. To mark the funeral, the mayor of Monza, Paolo Pilotto, has declared a day of mourning in the city, “to allow the whole community to rally round the bereaved family as they say their final farewells”. “The local council,” he added, “deeply moved by this loss and also remembering the three members of the Angelucci family who were involved in the same tragedy, has ordered that flags be flown at half-mast at all public buildings”.
